Matthew was diagnosed with FND back in 2019, during the time since then, Matthew has worked hard on his own recovery. Travelling the width and breadth of England for said treatment.
Matthew identified the lack of treatment and resources available to patients within the North of England.
Matthew now works full time for the charity on a voluntary basis, he also works along side a consultant based out of Preston Hospital, developing new innovative ways to help with treatment for patients with FND.
This consultant must remain anonymous for the time being, as they are seeking approval from their parent trust to be able to involved.
There role will include providing clinical advise and information in the field of Function Neurological Disorder.
Also assisting in advice for treatment plans and new tech coming onto the scene.
Chloe was diagnosed with FND in August 2024 following a lifetime battle with her health and a healthcare system that continuously dismissed her struggles due to lack of knowledge. She was also diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlose syndrome earlier this year, and ADHD around 2 years ago.
Chloe is an Assistant Psychologist with a deep passion for supporting individuals facing challenges in accessing care and advocating for their voices to be heard within the healthcare system. Holding a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Psychology of Child Development, she has a strong foundation in both the theory and practice of psychology, with a particular focus on mental health.
Chloe has gained valuable experience through an internship with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), where she contributed to projects focused on implementing change within healthcare systems. During this time, she co-authored two published papers, further solidifying her commitment to research and evidence-based practice.
With a passion for supporting change in the NHS and improving access to care for vulnerable individuals, Chloe brings a thoughtful, research-driven approach to her work. As a trustee, she is dedicated to championing the needs of individuals in underserved communities, ensuring that those who face challenges in navigating healthcare systems receive the support and representation they deserve.
Gail is a dedicated NHS administrative worker who has spent her most recent years specialising in a surgical department at the local hospital in Lancaster. Seven years ago, she made the conscious decision to relocate to Morecambe to be closer to her expanding family.
Gail's interest in Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) was piqued following her son-in-law's diagnosis in 2019. Since then, she has been wholeheartedly supporting efforts to increase understanding and awareness of this condition, drawing upon her expertise and experience within the NHS to make a meaningful impact in addressing what appears to be a nationwide issue. Gail is particularly focused on the diverse range of patient experiences within this field, a topic that resonates deeply with her.
Beyond her professional endeavours, Gail finds joy in travelling, especially relishing European city breaks. She also values spending quality time with her family, attending theatre shows, and contributing to the local Brownies group alongside her granddaughter.
